SEGREGARE
App + Web Design Prototype
Segregare is the latin translation of "isolate". During the research preceding the development of this app prototype, it became evident how overwhelming the symptoms of anxiety can be. The idea of isolation as a coping mechanism for anxiety attacks drove the naming and overall design of the app and subsequent website. While navigating this app users are encouraged to shut out the stimuli that cause their anxiety to help diffuse the hysteria of anxiety attacks. By remaining present in the environment, but learning to filter out the stressors, the user can overcome the symptoms rather than fleeing.
The user is immediately prompted to take a moment to calm down, followed by a guided breathing exercise to begin to relax the body. After completing the breathing exercise, the user can decide to go through the same exercise again or select another new task. These exercises help the user close out the stressors of their environment without having to leave. In doing this, the user can recognize that they have control over their anxiety symptoms. By overcoming the stressors of the environment, the user can then return to their activities understanding there is no true danger.
The same minimalistic visual language is carried through to the accompanying website. On the webpage, users can learn more about the motivations of the app developers and what this app stands for. User testimonials are also featured to help promote the app and show the ways in which it can help real people.
