The Objective:
With my senior capstone project, I challenged myself to develop a body of work that I have been thinking about creating since my first year at school. I took this open opportunity to prove to myself I had the skills to execute design work in the field I am pursuing and exercise my skills in developing branded elements.
The result:
The 2022 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic. A New Year's Day tradition that features a regular season game played outdoors in a football or baseball stadium. The event takes on a new theme and appearance each year to celebrate the location and teams that will participate. Contested grounds have been chosen for the 14th installment of this event and the game will see a storied rivalry battle for their claim to this location as the New Jersey Devils face the New York Rangers at MetLife Stadium.

Competition has been woven into every aspect of this event. Aside from the historic rivalry these teams possess, the very setting of this event has been chosen to elevate the battle. Typically this game would be played close to the home arena of the host team. With these two teams separated by less than 10 miles, MetLife Stadium was selected as it is virtually equidistant between the home arenas of the two teams being featured in the game. Further, this venue is home to two football teams that represent New York despite its location in New Jersey. Since its construction, local sports fans have debated which state has a valid claim to this venue.
TEAM UNIFORMS
Teams receive special edition uniforms to use during this game, often taking a retro look the honor the heritage of their franchise and add to the historical nature of the event.
The New Jersey Devils uniforms replicate the design of the organization's earliest days when they played as the Kansas City Scouts from 1974–1976. The New York Rangers don throwback threads that celebrate their style from their first years nearly a century ago.
